Morgan loved it because there were TONS of animals! Apparently state fairs are where the agricultural community gets to showcase their livestock and produce. I actually didn't know much about state fairs at all before we went, so it was interesting to see all that the fair had to offer.
We walked around and saw all of the cows, horses, sheep, goats, rabbits, ducks and chickens. They had all different shapes and sizes of the various animals, and Morgan was in heaven the whole time.
A little baby sheep!
It was cute at every animal station they had someone there who would give the kids a hand stamp of the animal they were seeing.
I think the ducks were his favorite part
Wouldn't take his eyes off the animals :-)
We watched a cattle competition (is that what it is called??) for a while. It was interesting to see all that the judges looked for in the various cows' body compositions. Lets just say I learned way more than I ever cared to know about all of the body parts of a cow!
One of the things we heard the most about before going to the fair (and what I personally was looking forward to most) was the FOOD! There were so many food vendor booths it was crazy. Any type of unhealthy food you wanted, the fair had. They had chocolate hand dipped cookie dough, huge hamburgers and corn dogs, chili cheese fries, brats with everything on them, BBQ chicken, soda in every way shape and form, deep fried oreos, deep fried cheese curds, deep fried chicken, pretty much anything deep fried that you could ever want! I saw a whole food booth dedicated to deep fried vegetables! If that isn't an oxymoron I don't know what is :-) I'm happy to report we did our fair share of partaking (see what I did there?).
Deep fried cheese curds. We also shared a brat, corn dog, hamburger, fries, and root beer that are not pictured ;-)
We capped the day off with the legendary Wisconsin State Fair cream puffs. These were by far the most talked about food item leading up the fair, and they definitely lived up to the hype!
After his first bite :-)
Like father, like son.
We ate so much food that Jeff and I joked we would need to get an IV drip to help combat all of the unhealthy food in our systems! We had so much fun, though. It was the perfect day because we got up early and spent the morning hours at the fair before it got too hot. We also got home right as it was time for Morgan to go down for his nap :-) I love it when that happens! We had a lot of fun seeing all of the animals and look forward to next year.
