Our First Christmas

I am so behind on blog posts! I have a lot of catching up to do. We have been busy this holiday season! First, I wanted to give a little recap of our first Christmas as a little family!

Leading up to Christmas, Jeff and I tried to do a lot of things that would get us in the holiday spirit and also start some traditions that we could carry on for years to come.

We made ornaments:

We drove around and looked at Christmas lights. There was a house that had lights set up so they "performed" along with various Christmas songs. It was so fun and Morgan loved it!

We also went to this awesome place in St. Louis called Santa's Magical Kingdom. Basically it is a park that they covered in a ton of Christmas lights. You drive through it with your car and you can tune your radio to the park's station and they play Christmas songs and give descriptions of what you are seeing. They served yummy hot chocolate and it was really fun to see all of the lights.

On Christmas eve, we made sugar cookies for Santa, watched Christmas movies, skyped with my family, and opened a few presents. We then put on our new Christmas jammies, read The Polar Express, and went to bed in hopes of Santa making his first ever stop at our home!

Someone enjoyed eating the sugar cookie dough so much that when we took him away from it he threw a little tantrum!

The sugar cookies didn't exactly turn out...

Christmas day was very relaxing. Morgan slept in until 10am (what?!) so we got a late start on opening presents. I think this was the only Christmas morning in my whole life that I have woken up any later than 7am. It was one for the record books! Anyways, we opened presents, skyped with our families (and Jeff's sister Charlee who is on a mission and my brother Spencer who is on a mission), ate good food, and just spent time together enjoying the day.

Santa came!

He brought Morgan a treehouse toy that I am happy to report Morgan loves and plays with daily!

He brought the puppies some toys and treats!

I sustained an injury while doing the Christmas cooking...

I also have to show off the beautiful ring Jeff got me. I love love love it!

We had a fun and happy Christmas here at home! I do have to say, though, it was a lot of work and I missed my family. I am still undecided if we will stay home again next year, or wait to stay home after we have more kids. It was just very quiet which I am not used to! Maybe next year will be better because Morgan will "get" it more. I guess we will decide once it gets closer to Christmas :-)

Thanks for reading! I'm hoping to get a few more posts done in the next couple days all about what we have been up to lately. Stay tuned!
