During the second week of our vacation, Jeff surprised me with a visit. It was so fun and I was completely shocked! Here is how it all played out. For my birthday back in June, my mom gave me a gift certificate for a massage. We thought it would be fun for me to save my gift certificate and then we could go get massages together while I was visiting. A couple weeks before Morgan and I went to California, Jeff called my mom and said he wanted to surprise me with a visit. My mom then scheduled our massages during the time that Jeff would be arriving at my parent's house from the airport. My sister Maddie got up early on the morning he got in and picked him up while my mom and I were getting our massages. When we got home, we walked in the front door and my sisters were acting really weird...haha I don't know how else to describe it. They were running around and just acting kinda funny. I didn't know what was going on, but then I walked into the family room and Jeff was standing there holding Morgan! I was shocked! They all did a great job in keeping the surprise. It was very fun :-)
Jeff was only able to stay a few days, so we filled every minute he was there with fun activities! First, we took the train to Olvera street. Olvera street is basically a street in LA that is like little Mexico. There are a bunch of vendor shops and restaurants with authentic mexican food. We love going there! We can always find fun little nick-nacks and there is a restaurant there that we like to eat at.
Not only is Olvera street fun, but riding the train is also really fun!
Morgan got some cute little Mexican sandals at Olvera street!
He likes to rest his head in your hand when his neck gets tired :-)
We also took a trip to the Santa Barbara Zoo!
Maddie photo bombing :-) I still laugh every time I see this picture
One of the best things about the Santa Barbara Zoo are the incredible views. The zoo is right along the beach so you can see the ocean and you can also see the hills around Santa Barbara. So beautiful!
The giraffes had two babies!
Someone got sleepy :-)
After the zoo we took a walk along the Santa Barbara pier. We got some ice cream and took in the nice weather and amazing views. Santa Barbara really is so beautiful! I guess that explains why it is so expensive to live there ;-)
While Jeff was in town we also went swimming. He and Ella went a few different times, but we went as a family once. Morgan loved it!
Do these goggles not make you want to just eat him up?! So darn cute.
After a few days it was time for Jeff to go home :-( It was so sad! After he left Morgan and I only had a few more days of our vacation. We took a trip to visit my dad at work, did some shopping, got our nails done, and just soaked in every last minute in sunny California.
Morgan loved to sit and watch Grandma play the piano!
Morgan and Aunt Maddie wearing matching tie-dye shirts.
We had a visit from Uncle Spencer's best friend, Alex! He is Morgan's honorary uncle :-)
The flight home was pretty rough. We almost missed our flight because the line to check-in at Southwest was SO long (it took us almost an hour and a half!). I literally had to run carrying my overstuffed and heavy diaper bag and my 18lb Morgan all the way to the gate. Not to mention Morgan had a huge blowout while we were waiting in line so I had to change him right there on the floor in front of the gate. I had no time to grab anything to eat before we boarded, so I was STARVING the whole flight. Morgan then had an even bigger blowout while we were on the plane. To top it all off, Southwest broke our stroller and lost the part that fell off. Needless to say we were happy to see Jeff waiting for us when we got off the plane. I almost kissed the ground! Kidding, kidding...kind of.
Well that is it for our California vacation! It was so much fun. Morgan loved being with his grandparents and aunties. We were sad to go home! Summer is quickly ending and it is almost time to start getting ready for Fall (my FAVORITE time of year!!!)
The little California boy!
