17 Weeks

This week I was finally able to add another installment to my baby belly picture collection! Yay! I have been sooo busy these last few weeks with school, but this week school has been suspended because of Hurricane Sandy. A lot of students who are in my program are based on the east coast, so the school suspended studies until they are able to join in. So this week is really the first time I've had time to do fun baby-related things. I didn't have the help of my trusty photographer Jeff, so I had to make due on my own. Self-timer baby! So if you notice that the picture isn't exactly straight...I apologize. Pregnancy has made me even more impatient than I already was (who thought that was even possible?!) so it is what it is. It was also cloudy out when I took the picture, which explains why it looks so gloomy.

Anyways!! I thought it was so perfect that the baby is currently the size of a sweet potato, and it is the first day of November! If that doesn't scream festive I don't know what does. I made the poor choice of wearing a top that is almost the same exact color as the wall, so it is hard to see the extent of the belly. It isn't very big still, but definitely there. I was complaining to my doctor at my last visit that I don't really feel like I look pregnant and she just laughed. She said that it's normal for me to still be so small because it is my first pregnancy. She said that with my second, I will show basically the moment of conception...but for now I have to wait :-) She promised that one day I am going to wake up and look really, really pregnant. Still waiting for that day to arrive!

I feel like I am rambling a lot. Time to reign myself back in.

How far along: 17 weeks 5 days

Total weight gain: 5 lbs

Maternity clothes: One of Jeff's very sweet friends from school is letting me use some of her old maternity clothes. I have to say it is nice to be in stuff that fits! I still need to invest in some maternity pants...I am still wearing pre-pregnancy pants and doing the rubber-band trick.

Stretch marks: Nothing yet!

Sleep: Sleeping much better now than I was a few weeks ago. So thankful for that!

Best moment of this week: HALLOWEEN!!

Miss anything: My pants fitting.

Movement: I *think* I have been feeling little butterflies. Still not sure if it is just my imagination...

Food cravings: Anything spicy!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not so much anymore. Sometimes random things wont sit very well with me, but for the most part I am able to eat pretty much anything with no trouble.

Have you started to show yet: Yes

Gender: Should find out tomorrow!

Belly button in or out: In

Wedding rings on or off: On

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!

Looking forward to: My ultrasound tomorrow.

I love seeing how different my answers are from last time! As I said in a few of my responses, I have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow. This is a level 2 ultrasound that my doctor set up because of the hematoma they found on my last scan. I am anxious to see how the hematoma is doing. Hopefully it has completely reabsorbed so I can go back to normal life. It has been so hard on me to have to take it easy these past 2 weeks. Jeff is gone at school a lot, so I don't have him around a ton to help with all of the things I'm not supposed to be doing. I know that it will all be worth it in the end, but I hate being limited! Doesn't this hematoma know that I am an absolute clean freak and need to be getting down to business on this messy apartment of ours? We are praying that we get good news tomorrow. Be gone hematoma, be gone!

We will also find out the sex of the baby tomorrow! I am SO excited and already planning a fun way to announce the sex to everyone! Like I've said before, I really think it's a boy. I will be surprised if it's a girl, but we will really be happy with either :-)

Another little piece of news is that we are moving in December. We aren't moving far...just to a first-floor apartment within the apartment complex we currently live in. Right now we live in a third-floor apartment and it SUCKS so bad. I hate it. Every time I go up and down those stairs I get so annoyed. Mostly because the stairs here are so old and rickety that I am afraid I am going to face-plant on them every time. They also make taking the dogs out to go potty multiple times a day a huge chore. I am partially convinced that those stairs are the reason I have the hematoma! Sooo annoying. Anyways, we decided that with the baby on the way we needed to get into a more accessible apartment. Plus, there is no way that I was going to be walking my 9-months pregnant body up and down those stairs 10 zillion times a day. NO way. So we talked to our managers and they are moving us to a first floor apartment! We really couldn't be more happy! I am dreading the whole moving process...but it is going to be so worth it.

Well I think that is enough senseless ramblings from a pregnant woman for one day. We are looking forward to sharing the news of whether baby Durfee is a baby BOY or baby GIRL!
