Its Official!

It's official! There is a bun in the oven! I went to my first doctors appointment last week and got this cute little picture:

I found out at the appointment that I was 8 weeks and 3 days along. Which means I am 9 weeks and 2 days today. I was told that my due date is April 6th. Jeff is excited because his birthday is April 20th, so the baby will be a fun birthday present for him! At the doctors appointment I was also able to see and hear the baby's heartbeat during the ultrasound. What a cool experience that was! The baby's heart was beating 170 bpm, which the doctor told me is very healthy!

Words cannot describe how thrilled Jeff and I are! I am so looking forward to when I can feel the baby kick and move. Currently, all I have been feeling is sick, sick sick. It seems to come on out of nowhere. I will be feeling fine one minute, and the next I am in the bathroom hanging my head over the toilet! I am hoping the sickness goes away once I reach my 2nd trimester. Until then, I am just happy knowing that the sickness is a sign that the pregnancy is going well. I have to tell myself something to get through, right? :-)

Today we finally took my first "belly picture". I am not really showing yet, but I wanted to take one so I can document how my belly grows along the way. I have actually had the message drawn on my chalkboard for a few weeks, but we only got around to taking the picture today. I was hoping to have some natural light to take the picture with, but alas hurricane Isaac is upon us and we haven't seen the sun in a week! So we made due with some lamp lights.

So maybe there is a little baby bump there? One things for sure--my pants are no long buttoning! I have become a big fan of the "rubber-band trick" to keep my pants up. This is at 9 weeks, 2 days pregnant.

Keep checking back as I plan to regularly update this blog! :-) We are so excited for the future and for our little baby Durfee-to-be!
